Your Engagement Session

I include engagement sessions in The Full Wedding Experience because I truly believe that they are a VITAL part of the entire process. During your engagement session, you’ll have the chance to get to know me, experience how I shoot and how I handle posing and lighting. This session will make a HUGE impact on how the wedding day flows.

I’ll arrive on your wedding day already knowing how you two interact, what your best poses are and how to photograph you in a genuine way! What I will learn about you during your engagement session is invaluable! You will feel like such a pro on your big day because of the great practice you had during your engagement session, and that’s how it should be!

What to Expect

The engagement experience:

planning

I am here to use as a resource! Need input on an outfit? Can't decide between locations (or any location)? Would love to plan something special for your beau? I'm always ready and excited to help you with any planning you need!

Engagement sessions should be fun! We talk, we walk, we snuggle...well, you snuggle! I capture the snuggles! So many couples think they "aren't good in front of the camera" or they feel unphotogenic? Don't worry. I haven't met a couple yet that I haven't been able to pull the inner models out of! Above all we just have fun and I do everything I can to make you feel comfortable!

Have a beloved furbaby you want to bring? Are picnics your thing? We can totally integrate those into your session to make this extra personalized!

Since you're already all dolled up, plan on going to dinner afterwards on a fun date together!

After your session, you can expect to have your full gallery of edited photos within 4 weeks, delivered through an exclusive and personalized online Pass+ Gallery!

Picking Locations

The engagement experience:

As you start to plan for your engagement shoot, you will need to start brainstorming about location ideas.

I LOVE it when couples pick a location that is special or sentimental to them in some way! If you can’t think of anywhere specific that you would like to shoot, I can help you decide on a location! As long as the light is great, I can make ANY location look awesome!

I shoot at farms, in the desert, campuses, downtown alleys and even laundromats! I’m serious! Do not shy away from crazy ideas! The more creative, the better!

Questions

frequently asked

how soon should I schedule our session?

Dates typically fill up quickly for engagement sessions. If we didn't schedule your engagement session at booking, you'll want to schedule that ASAP.

Engagement sessions are scheduled two hours before sunset. So when planning keep this in mind with your work schedule. A great sunset calculator can be found by clicking here. I can do sunrise sessions if necessary! I require sunrise shoots for those who want to take portraits in a very crowded location or in the desert in summer (as sometimes in the summer desert heat, sunrise is less toasty!).

Scheduling a trial run for at least makeup with your make up artist is a wonderful idea for your engagement session. This gives you a chance to see how the makeup will photograph for the wedding day. Having your hair curled or blown out certainly doesn't hurt, either!

Similar to your wedding day blog post, you can expect to see your engagement photos posted on the blog within two weeks of your session. Please keep in mind that the photos on the blog are only a preview of what you can expect of your full gallery.
