Planning out the timeline can be one of the most stressful parts of the logistics. Likely this is your first time planning something like this and it's hard to know just how much time you will really need for each part of the day!
At booking I send over a custom sample timeline to fit the sunset time on your wedding day. This is not a mandatory timeline, but one that will give you plenty of time for each part of the day with the best light for photos, as well as maximizing the time with your loved ones!
Below is the Timeline Guide that explains why I encourage that much time for each portion of the day. The suggested times are not only for great photos, but to give you the time that you need to not have a rushed and stressful day, while also maximizing party time!

Just the Bride, Groom, Photographers and Videographer. We have everyone else go inside or away from the area so that it is as personal as possible. This moment is for the Bride and Groom, no one else.
You don't need to bring anything but you! Some couples will exchange gifts at the First Look, but it's not required. Brides, wearing your veil is optional. You can save that for when you walk up the aisle and sunset portraits to keep a few elements a surprise.
One way to add extra meaning and set the tone well is to exchange and read letters just before the First Look!
First Looks happen as soon as the Bride and Groom are ready before the ceremony!
There are two things I look for in a First Look Location. Light and Privacy. A First Look is one of the few moments where a couple isn't on parade in front of everyone. It's often their only "alone" time all day. So I find somewhere that won't be on display in front of other guests, and somewhere with beautiful light!
After experiencing my own wedding and shooting many others I’ve come to this conclusion: Some brides love “traditions” but what a bride REALLY wants when it comes to her groom seeing her for the first time, is a REACTION. Those who are not interested in a First Look usually think that by seeing each other beforehand, they will lose part of that reaction. They also assume that it will not be as emotional or as intimate as it would be if they were coming down the aisle. I have found the opposite to be true though! By lessening some of the nerves and anxiety, the emotion builds through the day and the grooms that cry as their bride comes up the aisle are usually the grooms that were able to share a private first look with the love of their life!
In the Living Room of my childhood home was my Mother's beautiful china cabinet, handmade by my Dad. There on the bottom shelf sat a blue and white checkered album next to two black bound albums. I spent hours of my childhood sitting on the floor by the china cabinet, pulling those books out, and turning each page as I dove into the stories there in front of me.
Mom and Dad's engagements in the mountains where we have our family reunion every year. Mom's beautiful long white wedding dress that I swore I would wear someday for my wedding (but which I outgrew when I was 10!). Photos of my aunt and uncle singing at the reception. Mom and Dad dancing, something I still love watching to this day.
Seeing the photos, and being able to match them to the real life love story I saw between them every single day was powerful. Those books still sit in my parents Living Room, and I still love going through them. Those albums are treasures.
Prickly Pear VIPs can customize their packages with any combination of the products I offer. But the #1 product that I hope each client will choose to include in their package is a custom designed album. An album tells the story of your day in a way that no other product can. And it lives on to tell that story to your children and grandchildren.
When you face trials in your marriage, and like my Mom and Grandma both told me, "it's not IF you will face trials, but WHEN," I challenge you to sit side by side on the sofa and look through your wedding album together. I don't know any couple who could do this and not be reminded of their love and the fact that they can make it through anything...as long as they have one another.
Each album is custom designed and printed on the finest quality Fuji Crystal Archival photographic paper and bound with your choice of a beautiful crisp linen or a 100% natural Italian leather cover that is soft to the touch yet durable.
Lay-flat pages with a protective coating allow the story of your wedding day to shine through while helping the album stand the test of time.
These albums look and feel beautiful!
You can leave the cover blank, or choose to personalize it with a few key features:
Showcase a key shot with a cameo window on the front cover!
Include your names and wedding date in a classic and elegant font through either debossing or embossing on the front cover!
These touches are simple but can add so much to an album!
I always love meeting and working with new vendors and creatives at weddings! So many friendships have started that way. If you are looking for any ideas of vendors that I have worked with and LOVE, here are some ideas for you. These professionals take such amazing care of their clients, I know you'll love them!

No! Of course not! I will not force you to do anything that goes against who you are.
My second shooter and I will be on our feet and running around all day long. We love our job, but it is hard work and we will need a chance to eat dinner to keep our strength up. Because no one likes photos of them eating, and so that we are able to be done eating and ready to go when the program starts, it works best if we eat in the same room (even a vendor table in the back) and if we can get our meal at the same time as the bridal party so we're ready to go when the fun begins!
Yes! Right after your wedding I get a preliminary design put together to save you time. From there you can add, switch, and take out any photo you want through 2 rounds of revisions. This gets your album to you faster, but still allows you to get the shots in that you want!
YES!!! Oh heavens yes! Even if we did portraits after the First Look, or right after the ceremony, having time set aside for sunset portraits is not something you'll regret. That light is the best light of day, your wedding day jitters are gone, and the portraits end up being some of the favorites of the whole day!
